Kashiwa Reysol await winner from Muang Thong - JDT clash

The question mark on which Japanese team await the winner of the preliminary round clash between Muang Thong United and JDT is answered.

The answer is Kashiwa Reysol, the Japanese team who finished fourth in the 2017 J1 League. 

This comes after Cerezo Osaka defeated Yokohama F. Marinos in the Emperor's Cup final played on the opening day of 2018.

With the win, Cerezo claimed an automatic slot into the 2018 AFC Champions League group stage after a dramatic extra time 2-1 win over Yokohama.

Kashiwa who finished one place below Cerezo in the league last season now will play the winner of the preliminary round two clash between Thailand's Muang Thong United and Malaysia's Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT).

Muang Thong have had previous experience of playing in the group stage, including in last season's competition. While JDT are eyeing their first ever appearance in Asia's elite cup competition.

The vital clash between the clubs from the two neigbouring Southeast Asian countries will take place the SCG Stadium in Nonthaburi, Thailand on January 23.
