Kaizer Chiefs coach Zwane targets maximum points in MDC's Soweto Derby

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will meet in a MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) match on Sunday afternoon.

Amakhosi coach Arthur Zwane says they need to start the new year off by grabbing maximum points.

"If you want to start the year on a good note you need to start by winning," Zwane told the club's website.

"It's important that we win our game on Sunday against Pirates and being our first game of the year, we need to set the standard for the year going forward.

"It's also key for the players to enjoy themselves especially playing against our Soweto rivals. We want the boys to have fun, but at the same time they must understand the importance of collecting maximum points," Zwane said.

Amakhosi will be boosted by the return of midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Wiseman Meyiwa and striker Itumeleng Shopane from national duty with South Africa Under-20 at last month's U20 Cosafa Cup.

Chiefs and Pirates sit in fifth and sixth place respectively on the MDC log standings.

They both come off victories in their last games, with Chiefs beating Maritzburg United 3-1 and Bucs seeing off SuperSport United 1-0 in December last year
