Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns pull out of race for Free State Stars winger

Masandawana and Amakhosi have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Jantjie

During the second half of the 2016/17 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign, Free State Stars winger Sinethemba Jantjie’s exploits had won him several admirers.

Previous reports suggested that Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates were all keen on the 28-year-old’s services.

However, if reports are to be believed, Masandawana and Chiefs have been deterred by the hefty price tag placed on Jantjie’s head.

According to a source close to the Bethlehem-based outfit, Stars are demanding R5 million in order to part ways with the exciting winger.

Furthermore, while the source has gone on to mention that the Buccaneers are still keen on Jantjie, they too are reluctant to pay the inflated fee and are hoping that Ea Lla Koto will drop their asking price.

“Stars want R5 million for Jantjie, and as result, Chiefs and Sundowns are already out of the race for his signature because they think this amount is too high. Pirates are still interested, but they also want Stars to lower the asking price. If not, then they won’t sign him either,” the source told Phakaaathi.
