The son of the fired U.S. national team coach will be part of the youth team’s camp and friendlies in Costa Rica.

United States Under-20 head coach Tab Ramos has named the roster for his side’s December international camp and friendlies in Costa Rica, with Jonathan Klinsmann among the players selected.

Goal staff predicts MLS Cup Final

The University of California goalkeeper and son of ex-U.S. national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who was fired in November after a home defeat to Mexico and a road loss in Costa Rica, is among 20 players selected.

The squad is highlighted by MLS defenders Justen Glad of Real Salt Lake and Tommy Redding of Orlando City, along with forward Brandon Vazquez, who recently joined expansion side Atlanta United from Club Tijuana.

The camp will take place between Dec. 13-20 in San Jose, Costa Rica and will include two friendlies against the Costa Rica U-20s.

Ramos is preparing the squad for 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, which will also take place in Costa Rica between Feb. 17 and March 5. The tournament also serves as qualifying for the 2017 U-20 World Cup, which takes place in South Korea.

“This will be a great opportunity for our players to get acclimated to Costa Rica and get a sense of what they can expect in February.” Ramos said in quotes published on U.S. Soccer’s official website. “The chance to play Costa Rica twice will be a good test for our guys to see where they stand against the host nation, who is playing at a very high level.”
