Kaizer Chiefs winger Joseph Molangoane could make his return to action sooner than expected.

The speedy attacker broke his leg in an MTN8 quarter-final clash against Free State Stars in August this year.

This was his first appearance of the season, but he had to be substituted after 55 minutes as Chiefs went on to record a 3-0 win over Ea Lla Koto.

He was initially expected to come back in January 2019, but the player appears to be recovering well.

Molangoane is walking on his own and without crutches, and in addition, he has started light training at the Amakhosi base in Naturena.

While the club is yet to confirm how far Molangoane is with his recovery, the 30-year-old was seen at the training grounds with his teammates on Wednesday morning.

However, he hasn't been involved in extensive training, meaning he might still be out for a few weeks before returning to his full fitness.

Molangoane will now look to work on his strength and complete his rehabilitation programme before he can think of playing regular football again.

The Alexandra-born player featured regularly for the Soweto giants last season albeit in an unfamiliar position.

During Steve Komphela's tenure, Molangoane played as a right full-back where he blossomed in the absence of Ramahlwe Mphahlele, who was at the time struggling with a long-term injury.

He could be back to reclaim his place in the team before the end of the year.

The PSL will take a break on December 22, and at this rate, it looks like Molangoane will be back before Amakhosi's final match of 2018.
