After his part in the concession of the goal in the first leg at Perak Stadium, Izham Tarmizi was a happy man after he helped Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) keep a clean sheet in the second leg of the Malaysia Cup semi-final against Perak.
With Gabriel Guerra finding his touch in the match, JDT romped to a 3-0 at the end after being offered a stiff resistance from Perak prior to the second goal being scored. The 4-1 aggregate score takes JDT into the final where they will play against Kedah.
While Perak did create a fair few openings in the match, their finishing were poor on the night. Izham wasn't called upon as much as he did in Ipoh a week ago and he was pleased to see an improved performance from the team in general.
"The players followed the coaches' instructions based on what we learned from the first leg the other day. We took our chances, that's why we are in the final. We know that we have another league game in Kedah before the final. We'll take that as part of the preparations for the final and hopefully we can do well."
"We are not content yet. In the final we will know who's better and who's the best," said Izham after the match.
Having been propelled into a more regular role this season after the suspension to Farizal Marlias, Izham will be looking to cap off a productive season with another trophy as well as helping JDT lift the Malaysia Cup for the first time.
The 26-year-old custodian is expected to be on the bench in the final league fixture away to Kedah where he can observe what needs to be done and prepared ahead of the final at Shah Alam Stadium.
