Indian Super League (ISL) finalists Bengaluru FC have managed to rope in Bhutanese winger Chencho Gyeltshen ahead of the upcoming season, the club announced on Monday.

The 22-year-old joins the Blues on a one-year contract and is their fifth foreign signing.

Chencho, also called the Bhutanese Ronaldo, starred for Minerva Punjab during the last season and propelled them to their maiden I-League title. He contributed seven goals in 18 appearances and naturally attracted attention from several top clubs.

In the end, it was Bengaluru who managed to convince the winger. He was named the best striker of the I-League last season.

“Bengaluru FC is one of the top clubs in India but more importantly, it has been my dream to play for them and I’m happy that the move has happened. It’s a team with so many experienced players and the aim is to keep learning from them and improving with every passing day at the club,” said Chencho after signing for Bengaluru FC.

Bengaluru FC, who faltered at the final hurdle last season, will be eager to go the extra mile this time around and will hope Chencho plays a crucial role for them.
