The fifth edition of the ISL is about to start and here's everything you need to know ahead of the opening weekend

The 2018-19 season of the Indian Super League (ISL) is all set to kick-off with two-time champions ATK taking on two-time finalists Kerala Blasters on Saturday.

The league will have a winter break from December 16 this season in lieu of the Indian national team's participation in the 2019 AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Asian Cup in January.

When does the ISL start?


The new ISL campaign is set to begin on Saturday, September 29 at 7.30 pm IST, between ATK and Kerala Blasters.

There will be two international breaks during the first half of the season - Ocotber 8-16 and November 12-20.

The ISL begins with an opening match between ATK and Kerala Blasters on Saturday at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. The clash is a repeat of two finals (2014 and 2016) that were both clinched by the Kolkatan outfit. 

Newly crowned champions and two-time title holders Chennaiyin FC travel to Bengaluru to take on Bengaluru FC who are in their second season of the ISL in a repeat of last season's final at the very venue.
 


How can I watch ISL games on TV?


Star Sports have the rights to the ISL in the India this season as well and will be broadcasting games on their network of channels. They can also be streamed via Hotstar and JioTV.
