Bengaluru FC jumped to the top of the Indian Super League (ISL) table after an emphatic 0-3 win against Pune City FC. Carles Cuadrat was happy with the team's performance but was quick to point out the areas where there's a scope for improvement.
"I'm very happy with the result. It's always good to win while keeping a clean sheet and scoring a few goals. But it's just the beginning of the season and we need to improve in some areas. In the beginning, we were losing the ball often. These are the things we need to work on. I'm happy about the intensity of the players. They're working very hard and giving their best. That's something you feel happy about, as a coach."
Sunil Chhetri missed a couple of easy chances in the first half before netting twice in quick succession. Miku too looked profligate in the first half however, Cuadrat isn’t too concerned about it yet.
“The misses are not much of a concern. It is football, sometimes the ball goes in and sometimes it doesn't. The important thing is that we've created some good chances in all our games. Sometimes you miss easy chances, get frustrated and put yourself under pressure. But I'm not too worried about that."
When asked about Udanta Singh’s poor run of form, Cuadrat maintained that the India international is important to the team.
"I'm happy with Udanta. He's a very talented player and adds pace to the team. There's nothing to worry about his performances. He's doing his job for the team and he's very important for us in the long season."
The 49-year-old believes that the team has done well to keep two clean sheets this season and is happy that their hard work is reaping rewards.
"The victory is due to the work of our team. I'm very happy with the performance by our defence. We didn't concede any goals in our opening game and today. In the second match we conceded only in the end and had the game tied. I'm very happy with the intensity of the players and the hard work they're putting in.”
