For the second consecutive home game, Chennaiyin FC conceded late to drop two points against a team from the bottom half of the table…

Chennaiyin FC once again leaked in a goal late in a home game which has allowed the opposition to pick a crucial point. Against Kerala Blasters, it was Chekiyot Vineeth who scored in the injury time while Guyon Fernandez added his name on the score-sheet for Delhi Dynamos.

In both home matches, Chennaiyin FC were on course to pick three points.

“We need to focus. It is not good when we concede late on. We are a fit team. It was not tiredness. It was about losing focus. We need to keep our focus.

“Each and every match has pressure associated with it. We did not take Delhi lightly. They came at us hard and they are a team which can beat any side. We planned for them but unfortunately, we conceded a late goal,” said assistant coach Sabir Pasha.

Dhanachandra Singh made his second start this season and the former Mohun Bagan defender struggled to keep a check on David Nghaite for the first goal.

"Dhana is playing after a long time and I think he did very well today. He could have done better in that cross (Nandha's cross for the first goal). But it happens sometimes. No doubt, he could have done well but it was a very good cross,” said Pasha.

He explained the decision to not start with Raphael Augusto and praises Jeje Lalpekhlua who scored a couple.

"Rene Mihelic has been playing very well. It was the call of the head coach (to pick him over Raphael Augusto) and I felt that there was a strategy behind that. It was not about exposing Delhi Dynamos' set-piece weakness. We have other players who can send a good free-kick in. But it was a strategy which I do not want to reveal.

“Jeje always scores. That is all that matters for us and him. He will play as long as he scores. It doesn't matter to us if he holds the ball or has pace or not,” said Pasha.
