The Indian women's team have risen to 56th spot in the latest edition of the FIFA world rankings, up four places from their previous ranking of 60.

India increased their ratings points by five points, up to 1409 from 1404, which helped them climb up the rankings ladder.

After a disastrous FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign in North Korea, the women's team came up with an encouraging 2-0 win over Malaysia on July 31st, 2017, which has boosted the ranking profile.

Under new head coach Maymol Rocky, India were able to defeat Malaysia, thanks to goals from Odisha-born Pyari Xaxa.

The Indian eves are the thirteenth best team in Asia, a list which is headed by Australia who are ranked sixth in the world. USA enjoy the top billing, while Germany and England complete the top three.
