Impressive Mamelodi Sundowns star Themba Zwane believes he can be even better

The Masandawana star is slowly rediscovering his best form for the club this season

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Themba Zwane may be enjoying a resurgence following injury, but he is adamant that he can still improve.

Zwane was recently on target for Sundowns as they walked away with victory in Equatorial Guinea in the first leg of their Caf Champions League preliminary round clash, before putting in a man of the match performance against SuperSport United in the Tshwane Derby this past weekend.

However, the 29-year-old has faced stiff competition with the likes of Toni Silva and Phakamani Mahlambi among others at the club, but this has only motivated him to work even harder.

“I still need to push myself more,” Zwane was quoted as saying by IOL.

Although, Zwane has broken his duck on the continent, he is yet to find the back of the net in the league.

“There’s a lot of improvement I still need to do in my game. I need to work hard. So, it is important to be consistent and to play each and every game,” he added.

“We have quality players at Sundowns that whenever one is given a chance you need to perform. And if you do, you get to go into the national team and stay there,” Zwane said.

Meanwhile, with Sundowns having to play a balancing attack thanks to the resumption of the Champions League, this has led to the technical team having to rotate and find balance in selection as they look to avoid the effects of fatigue.

Nonetheless, Zwane remains undeterred despite the tight schedule and has credited coach Pitso Mosimane and his technical team for the work done behind the scenes as well as the depth at the club.

“The back-to-back matches, well so far so good. The technical team is managing us well, we’re coping. We have big numbers, enough depth to play these games,” Zwane concluded.
