Iheanacho urged to live up to pre-season form vs. Manchester United

The Nigeria international was outstanding in the foxes’ build-up games and the boss has charged him to replicate the form against the Red Devils

Leicester City manager Claude Puel has urged Kelechi Iheanacho to live up to his pre-season form when they clash with Manchester United in their opening 2018-19 Premier League game on Friday.

The 21-year-old attacker was in a terrific form in the build-up games, scoring four goals in three games, including a brace against Lille in their final outing.

Although delighted with the performance of the youngster and hoping he replicates the form against Jose Mourinho’s men, the French tactician has, however, warned that league games are different from pre-season.

“He is focused. He made a good performance [against Lille], but the most important thing is to present against Manchester United,” Puel was quoted as saying by Leicester Mercury.

“We know a friendly game is always different. Of course I am happy about his performance and the performance of the other players.”

Iheanacho scored three goals in 21 league appearances last season and will be aiming to improve on the performance this term.
