IFA Shield 2018: Mohun Bagan, Bengal Football Academy register wins

The Mohun Bagan U-19s set a semifinal date with SAIL Burnpur Academy after beating TFA in their final Group B match….

Mohun Bagan U-19 side beat Tata Football Academy (TFA) 2-0 in their final game of Group B in the ongoing IFA Shield 2018 at the Howrah Stadium on Thursday.

The Green and Maroon colts registered their third win on the trot and marched into the semifinals by topping the group. TFA also progressed to the last four stage finishing second behind Mohun Bagan.

Deep Saha scored the opening goal in the 6th minute of the match. The second goal was netted in by Akshunna Tyagi in the 89th minute and it sealed the fate of the game in the Kolkata giants’ favour.

Mohun Bagan U-19 IFA Shield 2018

In another inconsequential Group B clash, Bengal Football Academy came back from behind to beat Goan giants Churchill Brothers 2-1. The Churchill U-19 side took the lead in the 15th minute of the match. Bengal Football Academy restored parity in the 68th minute and took the lead in the 75th minute. Churchill ended their IFA Shield campaign at the bottom of the group after losing all their three matches.

Mohun Bagan are scheduled to face Group A’s runners-up SAIL Burnpur Academy on July 17 at the Mohun Bagan Ground. TFA will face Group A champions East Bengal in the first semifinal on July 16 at the East Bengal ground.
