Ian Wright: Granit Xhaka must learn from Wanyama

Arsenal legend challenges Swiss star to try and emulate his fellow defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama of Tottenham

Arsenal defensive midfielder Granit Xhaka has been advised to learn from Tottenham star Victor Wanyama.

Wanyama named MVP for Tottenham v Man City

“When you look at strong players, look at Wanyama’s performances for Spurs at the moment," he told BBC's 606 podcast. "You don’t see that type of tackle. He seems to be in control. He (Wanyama) gives the ball very simply. He does his job in front of the back four. We have to hope with time that Xhaka will improve that side of the game because he needs to.”

And after a poor tackle against Steven Defour in Arsenal's 2-1 win over Burnley on Sunday, the Swiss star was given his marching orders and will be out of action for four games. On the other hand, the Kenyan captain has enjoyed a stellar first campaign at White Hart Lane since joining from Southampton.
