Mumbai FC boss Santosh Kashyap looks confident of defeating The Warriors on Sunday evening..

Santosh Kashyap's Mumbai FC are set to welcome I-League newbies Minerva Punjab on Sunday evening at the Cooperage in a round eleven I-League clash. The Maharashtra outfit heads into the fixture following two big draws against Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan and Albert Roca's Bengaluru FC on home soil but are still winless in eight games.

The Mumbaikars will be facing The Warriors for the second time this season with the Chandigarh-based side getting the better of The Yellows in the first encounter.

Speaking about the game on Sunday, Mumbai boss Santosh Kashyap expressed confidence in his side's preparations. The gaffer stated that the team has bounced back from their woeful record and outlined his aim to bag the three points on offer on Sunday.

''I believe our preparation for the game tomorrow is excellent. When we lost to them (Minerva Punjab) at home, we were in a really bad phase. We couldn’t play up to our abilities so we eventually lost it. But this time we had a week to prepare. We are confident on winning.''

''In our last two games, I believe we have come back strong, especially after a streak of six losses,'' he revealed.

The Essel Group-owned franchise had secured the services of attacking midfielder Robson Chaves Santana in the month of January. However, the 28-year-old started just one game, against Shillong Lajong, and has not impressed Kashyap. He was never named in Mumbai's matchday squad ever since that performance.

Speaking about Santana, Kashyap revealed that the Brazilian has been released by the club after he suffered several injuries.

''Santana (Robson Chaves Santana) came to the club with an injury. Later, he couldn’t cope up here. He already arrived unfit and to add to it, got injured here as well. He had injured his calf muscles which would take long to recover so we released him,'' concluded the 50-year-old.
