I-League 2017: Chennai City FC deny non-payment of players' salaries

New entrants Chennai City have issued a statement denying non-payment of salaries of their players.

Newly introduced side Chennai City FC were accused of not having paid salaries of certain players for the past two months. The club has issued a statement denying the action.

The Southerners stated that the payment for the players had been initiated on 17th February, Friday. Also, the club has provided evidence for the payment by attaching proof of the communication which had taken place between the club authorities and the bank. The bank was urged to clear payments on a priority basis.

The South Indian club was forced to make public the salary details after media reports alleged that the players are unhappy with the delay in payment. A media release read, "The club would like to clarify that, payment for the players had been initiated on Friday 17th February."
