Hunt: Bidvest Wits midfielder Pelembe has gone AWOL

Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit Bidvest Wits has confirmed that midfielder Elias Pelembe has gone missing.

The Mozambique captain was released by the club ahead of the Fifa international break which saw the Black Mambas play Angola and Lesotho in friendly games.

Wits head coach Gavin Hunt has since revealed that Pelembe has failed to return to the Johannesburg club after the break.

“Pelembe never turned up,” said Hunt on The Citizen.

“He was in the team for the Platinum Stars game but didn’t pitch. He has always been like that, he never turns up. It also happened when we were at SuperSport United,"he said.

“What can we say? He knows why he didn’t pitch, but we don’t," the experienced coach added.

“No decision has been taken yet on what will happen to him, but we will certainly sort it out," he concluded.

This has come as a huge blow for Hunt's side as Nazeer Allie, Granwald Scott, James Keene and Xola Mlambo are all out nursing injuries.

Wits, who beat Platinum Stars to go top of the PSL log without the quintuplet over the weekend, will face Jomo Cosmos in the Nedbank Cup last 16 clash on Tuesday.
