How MFM will defeat ‘tough’ Sunshine Stars, reveals Onuwa

Chukwuka Onuwa reveals MFM plan to outsmart visiting Sunshine Stars in their Nigerian topflight tie on Wednesday.

Stephen Odey strike ensured the Owena Whales were condemned to a 1-0 defeat at the Akure Township Stadium in the first leg tie.

And with revenge on the minds of Duke Udi’s men, Onuwa says the Olukoya Boys will maintain their trademark possesion-based football while they expect their relegation-threatened rivals to play into their hands.

But the influential attacking midfielder maintains the southwest derby would be a ‘very tough’ contest.

“It's a southwest derby and we are expecting a very tough game,” Onuwa told Goal.

“We've trained very hard for the game because we know it is not going to be an easy game because we defeated them in the first leg on their home ground. We're ready for the tie.

“The game won't be any different to how we are known to play. We'll play our normal possession-based football and I believe it is going to be an interesting one because Sunshine Stars are going to come all out, and that's when we are going to hit them,” he continued.

“Sunshine Stars battling relegation doesn’t make them a bad side. They are a very good side and we respect them a lot. But with their current status, we won't look down on them, we'll also come all out to play our normal style.”

MFM head into the tie third best in the Nigerian top division, while their Ondo counterparts are placed 17th in the standings with only 30 points from a possible 75.
