Hlatshwayo: Hunt has unleashed the beast in me at Bidvest Wits

Bidvest Wits defender and captain Thulani Hlatshwayo says that his coach Gavin Hunt has brought out the beast in him as he hopes to score more goals this season.

“It’s coach Gavin who has unleashed the beast in me. When I left Ajax I didn’t think I had the leadership qualities, and now my game has evolved. I have scored four goals this season and hopefully I can get more,” Hlatshwayo told The Star.

“We need everyone at this stage of the season, and I think that is why the coach was giving players a run in the Nedbank Cup and in our game against Smouha,” Hlatshwayo said.

The Bafana Bafana international missed their last two matches against Platinum Stars and Egyptian side Smouha in the PSL and Caf Confederations Cup respectively.

“I was rested in our previous two games and it was important for whoever came in to step up. They didn’t, and you can understand why the coach was not happy. But I asked the guys not to be too discouraged,” Hlatshwayo said.

The Soweto-born player is in his third season with the Clever Boys since arriving from Ajax Cape Town.
