With only five games left to end the 2016-17 Ghana Premier League season, the battle to lift the title has intensified and three clubs including Hearts of Oak, Wafa and Aduana Stars are in a pole position to annex it.

On Wednesday, third-place Hearts will welcome log leaders Aduana to the Accra Sports Stadium in the top of the table clash as only four points separate them.

The Phobians revived hopes on Sunday, when they pipped city rivals Great Olympics 2-1 in the Mantse derby, further deepening their neighbours wounds as they look set to be relegated. While Hearts were adding insult to Olympics' injury in Accra, Aduana recorded a slim 1-0 home victory over Ashanti Gold.

The Phobians will hope to avenge a 2-0 defeat they suffered against Aduana in Dormaa Ahenkro during the first leg in March and head coach Frank Elliott Nuttall is calm ahead of the cliff-hanger.

"We're prepared for Aduana on Wednesday. The victory over Olympics was a sweet one but we've forgotten about it and focusing on our ambition of winning something for the supporters," Nuttall told reporters.

"Everyone is in good shape and we hope that those who'll be selected will give out their best to make everyone happy," he added.

A member of Aduana's management team, Elvis 'Baron' Opoku insists they'll not leave the Accra Sports Stadium without a point since they want to maintain their top spot and lift the trophy.

“We are ready for Hearts of Oak on Wednesday. I am urging all our supporters to come to the stadium to cheer the players up [for victory]," Opoku told Ghana News Agency.

“We are very confident of winning the Ghana premier league title this year [therefore], we are not losing this game and that is for sure. we will win to maintain the top spot or at least get a draw.

“The team is well motivated and well determined to win this year’s Ghana premier league,” he added.

The two clubs have met 15 times, with Aduana winning on three occasions and scoring 10 goals while Hearts have picked five wins and scored 11 goals. Seven games have ended in a draw.
