Hazard can't do it on his own says Sinclair

Chelsea will struggle to compete for titles if Eden Hazard's team-mates do not improve their goal scoring, according to former Blues defender Frank Sinclair.

The London club are third in the Premier League table, two points behind Liverpool and Manchester City at the top, and Hazard has been superb so far by netting six times in seven outings.

In total, Chelsea have scored 15 goals and are unbeaten with five wins and two draws but some feel the lack of a prolific centre forward could hold Maurizio Sarri's side back.

Sinclair is among those who doubt the rest of the attack and speaking to Love Sport Radio said: "My concern would be who else is going to chip in with goals.

"When you look at the likes of Man City and Liverpool, they’ve got a strike force that could possibly score 60 goals between them.

"Eden Hazard can’t do that on his own. [Olivier] Giroud ain’t known for scoring 20 goals plus and [Alvaro] Morata is finding it very difficult at the minute.

"Pedro will possibly chip in with 15 goals if he has a good season and the same with Willian. So my concerns ain’t with Hazard's fitness.

"He plays a lot of games and he will get his fair share of goals. It’s who else is going to chip in to make them contenders."

Despite a lack of goal scorers, Sinclair has been impressed with the way Sarri has galvanised his squad since arriving from Napoli.

"A big thing for me about being contenders over a championship season is the spirit between the players," Sinclair added.

"It’s all well and good having great players in your side but they have to have the chemistry and the spirit about them that makes them become a winning group of players.

"I think a key factor to that is obviously Sarri with his methods and his tactical nous on how he wants to do things.

"I also think a clever move was bringing Gianfranco Zola back to the club because I think it got a lot of people on his side straight away because he’s a favourite of the club.

"He’s the type of person that would be in and around the dressing room and making sure there’s harmony within the group."
