Harambee Stars to cash in Sh6.5m if they win Cecafa title

Each Harambee Stars player will pocket not less than Sh200, 000 should they win the trophy

Harambee Stars will take home Sh6.5 million if they win the 2017 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.

Kenya are set to take on Zanzibar in the final at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday.

A win against Zanzibar will hand Kenya her first title since 2013, a fete that will be rewarded with Sh. 6.5 million according to Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa.

With such a big sum of cash, each Harambee Stars player will pocket approximately Sh200, 000 should they win the trophy.

"We have already paid players. We paid players a bonus of Sh500,000 for the semi-final win and Sh6 million will be paid once the games are over if they win the trophy," said Mwendwa. 

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and his Machakos counterpart, Alfred Mutua will give the team Sh2m with the rest catered for by a sports betting firm.
