Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr has praised his charges for putting up a wonderful display against USM Alger despite playing in a ‘poor pitch’.

K’Ogalo managed another clean sheet, a 0-0 draw, in their second match in Group D against the visiting Algerian side in a soggy Kasarani Stadium pitch on Wednesday night.

The state of the pitch has irked coach Kerr, who believes that his side could have won the game, if the playing surface was in good standards.

“Look at the condition of the pitch and tell me if it deserves to host a match of such magnitude.? That was a joke. The pitch was horrible and I support USM Alger coach for raising the same complain.

“I must commend my players because despite the situation, they managed to play a very attractive football. We managed to have complete passes and we missed a number of chances. I am also happy we managed to keep another clean sheet against a very top team in Africa.”

Despite playing most of the second with ten man after defender Joash Onyango was sent off, Gor Mahia maintained their cool to remain second on the Group table. USM Alger are top on four points.

Rayon Sports of Rwanda managed a 0-0 draw against Young Africans (Yanga) of Tanzania to remain third. Gor Mahia will now face Yanga away in their third match while Rayon Sports will come up against USM Alger.
