K'Ogalo battled to edge out Sony Sugar in a league match played on Saturday

Gor Mahia extended their superiority against Sony Sugar in the Kenyan Premier League to new heights after winning 2-1 on Saturday.

Sony Sugar came into the match as underdogs considering they had lost ten of their last 16 matches against Gor Mahia, drawing four times and winning twice. Ze Maria came into the match knowing well that victory was all that his team needed to remain at the top of the table.

It did not take the 15-times champions long to make their intention clear as they took a lead from the unlikeliest of sources in Earnest Wendo who followed up a well worked move to put the ball past Kevin Otieno in the 21st minute.

Sony Sugar reacted by trying to build attacks towards the Green Army, with K'Ogalo also ensuring they do not leak at the back. The hosts’ pressure eventually paid off as the troublesome George Abege finally put the teams into level terms, first goal for Sony Sugar against Gor Mahia since 21st, April, 2013.

After the break, Gor Mahia came back stronger with Jacques Tuyisenge and Kenneth Muguna troubling the opponents. However it was Meddie Kagere, who scored the second goal in as many games after lashing on to a perfectly weighed pass and putting it into the back of the net in the 49th minute.

Sony Sugar continued pressing for an equalizer but Gor Mahia held on to bag maximum points and condemn the Millers to a second league defeat after five matches. K'Ogalo are on top of the table with 12 points from five matches.
