Gombe United won’t disappoint against Akwa United, says Madu

After crumbling against El Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri, the captain is confident his side will impress against the Promise Keepers on Sunday

Sani Madu has assured Gombe United will recover in time from their recent horrible defeat in Maiduguri, with a promise not to disappoint against Akwa United on Sunday.

The Desert Scorpions suffered their biggest defeat of the season in 3-0 loss against El Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri and the captain has promised they will make amends against the Promise Keepers at the Pantami Stadium.

"We have learned our mistakes for the defeat against El Kanemi Warriors,” Madu told Goal.

“We were not happy and honestly disappointed with the defeat because we never lost with such wide margin. But we are now ready for Akwa United.

“We will put aside the frustrations and tension from the defeat and ensure we will at home this time. We know they will be very motivated with their victory against Plateau United ending their unbeaten record.

“Still we won't be disturbed by that because our focus is to bounce back from our defeat in Maiduguri and make our fans happy again.

“We need to begin to score goals and this is what we hope to correct against Akwa United in other not to disappoint our fans and the management."
