Gombe United to miss crucial players vs. Shooting Stars

Gombe United will be without at least five of their regular players when they trade tackles with Shooting Stars on Sunday.

Bilyaminu Aliyu, Sodiq Shuaibu, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Hussein Wugesu, Abdulwaheed Afolabi and Giwa Isaac, who are either nursing injuries or having family issues, have been ruled out of the tie.

A source within the club ranks revealed that the Savannah Scorpions have been battling with injuries to their top stars and that it was one of the reasons they could not pick wins from their last two home matches against Niger Tornadoes and Lobi Stars.

“Gombe United are struggling with raising a formidable team for the away tie with Shooting Stars. Over five of the first team players are nursing injuries while few ones have family issues to sort out. It will be difficult to get a decent result in Ibadan with the spate of injuries in the team,” the source told Goal.

“Sani Sanusi is back after recovering from an ailment and his return should help stabilize the attack a little.

"The team is still very much optimistic of escaping the relegation zone and the rest of the players are eager to do everything possible to get that.”

Gombe United are 19th in the league table with 37 points from 32 matches.
