Ghezzal can fill Mahrez’s void at Leicester City, says Albrighton

Marc Albrighton is confident that Rachid Ghezzal can fill the void left by Riyad Mahrez's departure.

The former Monaco player joined the Foxes in August following the big money sale of Mahrez to Manchester City in the summer.

After initially struggling, the winger seems to have adapted to life at the King Power Stadium outfit and has scored in his last two games.

“He is different to Riyad and I don’t think he will like the comparison,” Albrighton told Leicestershire Live.

“As good as Riyad is and as much as he would probably like the career that Riyad has had so far he will want to be his own player.

“I think the comparison has come because he has been brought in to not replace Mahrez but fill the void after his departure, but obviously he is also Algerian and has the same running style as Riyad, so the comparisons will be there.

“He has started quietly and is just coming out of himself now. It will be interesting to see what he brings to the group.

“In terms of his ability, he has come in and shown what he is capable of. He has scored a few good goals in training and scored a couple in games. Hopefully, he can go from strength to strength.”

Leicester take on Bournemouth in Saturday's Premier League game and Ghezzal will be expected to continue playing a decisive role.
