Gavin Hunt won't quit Bidvest Wits, Vincent Pule set to leave in July

The embattled coach has no intention to leave the defending league champions despite struggling for positive results this season

Gavin Hunt insists quitting Bidvest Wits has not crossed his mind despite experiencing his worst season as a coach.

The Students have struggled to move away from the relegation zone this season, and while the majority of football fans have called for his sacking, Hunt says he will soldier on until he's told otherwise by the management.

“They’ll have to chase me out of here. No, I’m not quitting. Of course I’m under pressure. I’m embarrassed for the team and myself. I’ve never been in this position in 25 years as a coach in SA football,” Hunt told the media.

Wits tasted a league victory for the first time since October with a 2-0 win over SuperSport United in midweek that saw them climb to position 15 on the PSL log.

Meanwhile, Hunt confirmed that Vincent Pule is leaving Wits for a 'big club' at the end of the season.

The winger has made 15 appearances in all official competitions so far this season, and he will not be renewing his expiring contract with the Clever Boys.

Pule is linked with a possible move to Kaizer Chiefs, who recently signed Siphelele Ntshangase, Kabelo Mahlasela and Leonardo Castro.

“I think he has been signed by a big club in South Africa. He’s not going to leave now, but in June. I don’t want him to leave, but what can we do?” asked Hunt.
