Free State Stars set to replace Sammy Troughton with Luc Eymael

Troughton took over from Serame Letsoaka at the end of last season, but Ea Lla Koto are reportedly not too pleased with his work

Free State Stars have reportedly parted ways with Sammy Troughton after two months as their head coach.

Reports suggest that Troughton was told on Monday that his contract will be terminated without him getting the proper chance to turn things around at the club.

Belgian-born mentor Luc Eymael, formerly of Polokwane City and Bloemfontein Celtic, is according to the Daily Sun, earmarked for the coaching job.

Stars management felt the need to change their technical team after losing their opening game to AmaZulu, a match they felt they should have won.

Moreover, the newspaper reports that Troughton has already had clashes with the management, in particular general manager Rantsi Mokoena over the signing of a few players.

Troughton reportedly wanted veteran strikers Nathan Paulse and Henrico Botes to boost his attack after losing Moeketsi Sekola to Chippa United, but the club didn't approve.

In hindsight, Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with the PSL champions Bidvest Wits was Troughton’s last game in charge, with Eymael set to be unveiled some time this week.
