Hasbro has confirmed that a limited edition version of the game will feature Arsenal and Chelsea's women's teams

A childhood favourite of many football fans has released its first ever all-female set ahead of this Saturday’s women’s FA Cup final.

Toy manufacturer Hasbro confirmed a limited edition set of the table-top game would be released with the 22 players wearing Arsenal and Chelsea colours to commemorate this weekend’s clash.

The iconic Subbuteo box has also been given a makeover with female players now taking centre stage on the packaging.

Marzena Bogdanowicz, the FA's head of marketing and commercial for women's football, said: "This new, all-female Subbuteo set is a reflection of the rapid growth that women's football is seeing in the UK right now.

"We aspire to greater equality all the way from board games to boardrooms, and every day we are striving to transform the future of the women's game on and off the pitch."

Fans will only be able to get their hands on the set by entering a competition on one of the FA’s social channels and only a limited number will be given away.

Subbuteo has been around since 1947 but this is the first time a women’s set has been available in its 71-year history

Hasbro senior vice president James Walker added: "We are incredibly excited to work with the FA to place focus on female footballers in this special edition of Subbuteo.

"Subbuteo has a rich heritage that reflects the nation's love of football and this all-female playset is recognition of the vital role that women's football has in our culture
