Fifa's message for new Ghana Premier League champions Aduana Stars

The Fire Boys get a pat on the back for beating 15 other teams to the championship title

Fifa president Gianni Infantino has congratulated Aduana Stars for winning the Ghana Premier League title.

The Fire Boys sealed their second league silverware in history following a 2-1 win over Elmina Sharks on the penultimate matchday.

The Dormaa-based outfit are set to play away to Ashanti Gold on the final matchday but with seven-point gap between them and second-placed Wafa means Sunday's results will have no bearing on the league winner.

“It gives me great pleasure to send my warmest congratulations to Aduana Stars FC for their second championship title,” Infantino said in a letter addressed to the GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi.

“This title is the result of determination of everyone involved and my congratulations go to the players, the coach, the administration, the entire technical and medical staff as well as the fans for this great achievement.

“On behalf of the entire football community, I would like to thank Aduana Stars FC and your association for helping to spread the positive message of football.”

In a related development, the Premier League Board has announced, as against the final matchday of Sunday, Aduana will be crowned champions at a special coronation match at Dormaa-Ahenkro on November 5.
