Patrick Ikeokwu, Traore Issif and Chijioke Alaekwe all scored as the Anambra Warriors inflicted a damaging defeat on struggling Owena Whales

Sunshine Stars’ survival hopes suffered another blow at FC Ifeanyi Ubah, where a strong second half showing was the difference between the sides.

The Owena Whales had led through Sikiru Alimi in the 17th minute, but captain Patrick Ikeokwu equalised eight minutes later, as the first half ended 1-1.

Traore Issif appeared to have afforded the hosts a degree of comfort when he steered home a clever header thanks to Wasiu Jimoh’s assist in the 48th minute.

29 minutes to full time Chijioke Alaekwe powered in the third as coach Henry Abiodun’s side failed in their bid to claw back.

Sunshine Stars are now winless in their last three outings and now stay 17th on the Nigeria Professional Football League log with 17 points from 16 matches.
