Farouk Khan: Kaizer Chiefs would have lost a good player in Gordinho

The young defender recently came back from a week-long trial at Aalborg BK, and the Danish club decided against signing him

Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan tells Goal that the return of Lorenzo Gordinho is good for the club, especially now that they are pushing for the PSL title.

The centre-back penned a three-year contract with Amakhosi upon his return from Denmark where Aalborg decided against offering him a contract.

“I think it was good for him to go on trial. So, coming back to Chiefs is good for him because he wasn’t doing well on trial. Chiefs is a big brand,” Khan told Goal.

Khan, who is known for producing and nurturing young talent, believes Gordinho will again get the opportunity to try his luck in Europe.

“I mean, where else would he get exposure than at Chiefs? Chiefs have made him the player that he is today,” Khan said.

Given his age, Khan says that it would have been a blow for the Glamour Boys to lose the Benoni-born player to Aalborg.

“They brought him up as a young player and then promoted him to the first team. So, I think if they had lost him, they would have lost quite a good player,” Khan said.
