EXTRA TIME: Twitter reacts as SuperSport United suffer Caf Confederation Cup heartbreak

Matsatsantsa failed to beat TP Mazembe in Tshwane, and subsequently missed out on winning the maiden continental crown

TP Mazembe successfully defended their Caf Confederation Cup crown following their 2-1 aggregate win over SuperSport United on Saturday night.

Matsatsantsa went into the encounter brimming with confidence after scoring a crucial away goal in the first leg which was played in Lubumbashi.

Eric Tinkler's charges needed to at least win by 1-0 to dethrone Mazembe, but it wasn't to be as they failed to convert a few goalscoring chances they created on the night.

The Tshwane earned the plaudits from many South African football fans for going all the way to the final when very few gave them a chance at the start of the 2017 Caf Confed Cup campaign.

While United offered free entrance for anyone wearing blue, TP Mazembe still dominated out in the stands, with very few blue shirts cheering for the home side.
