Ex-Sports Cabinet Secretary tips Harambee Stars to qualify for World Cup

The 6.1 kilogrammes trophy that stands at 36 centimetre-tall is estimated to be worth Sh1 billion

Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala says that Kenya will one day qualify for the Fifa World Cup.

“Football inspires us and I believe that one day, Kenya will be there. It is every Kenyan dream to one day watch their team take part in the World Cup and such are the moments that inspire us to promote football.

“I know that one day Kenya will own this trophy, if not host the World Cup. I know it’s a tall order, but Kenya is a land of possibilities. One day we’ll get there.”

President Uhuru Kenyatta will receive the 18-karat gold trophy at State House on Monday before public viewing set to take place at the Kenyatta Convention Centre on Tuesday.

The trophy is on its longest tour of the World as it snakes to Russia that will host the World Cup tournament from June 14 to July 15.
