Ernest Asante fires Nordsjaelland to league summit

The 28-year-old registered his sixth goal in the Danish top-flight campaign to hand the Wild Tigers victory on Monday

Ghana’s Ernest Asante scored the solitary goal that helped Nordsjaelland defeat Helsingoer 1-0 in Right to Dream Park, Farum in the Danish Superliga.

The forward breached the defense of Christian Lønstrup’s men on the stroke of the quarter half-hour mark to power Kasper Hjulmand’s team to the peak of the Danish elite.

The striker had a chance to increase his tally three minutes after the half-hour mark from the penalty spot but missed the opportunity before he was replaced by Mathias Rasmussen in the 87th minutes of the encounter.

Asante’s Ghanaian compatriots, Godsway Donyoh was taken off in the 63rd minutes while Collins Tanor was an unused substitute in the duel.

With the result, Nordsjaelland are atop the log with 15 points from six league games and will square up with København in their next clash on August 27.
