The veteran Egypt goalkeeper signed for a third spell with Ismaily from Saudi Pro League side Al-Taawoun

Essam El-Hadary returns to Ismaily for an undisclosed contract period.

He last turned out for Ismaily in the 2014-15 season, having also had another stint at the club between 2009 and 2010.

Capped 159 times by Egypt, the 45-year-old El-Hadary made history last week by becoming the oldest player to feature in a World Cup match when he guarded goal against Saudi Arabia in the Pharaoh’s closing Group A match.

“The board of Ismaily Football Club, headed by Eng. Ibrahim Osman, succeeded in obtaining the signature of Egyptian goalkeeper and captain Essam El-Hadary,” said Ismaily in a statement.

“Before the signing of the contract formally, the technical staff led by Kheireddine Madoui held a meeting with Essam El-Hadary to inform him of his (World Cup) recovery program and find out when the goalkeeper will join the rest of the squad in training.”

The well-travelled goalkeeper has had a lengthy spell with Egyptian giants Al-Ahly, whom he won four Caf Champions League titles with.

He has also played for Swiss side Sion as well as other Egyptian clubs Wadi Degla, Al-Ittihad Alexandria and giants Zamalek.

Former African champions Ismaily will return to the Caf Champions League for the first time in eight years after finishing as runners-up to Al-Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League last term.
