Eguma confident of victory despite injuries to Rivers United’s top stars

Despite injuries to some of his key players ahead of Sunday’s Caf Confederation Cup tie with Club AfricainRivers United’s coach, Stanley Eguma insists they are set to get the job done on Sunday.

“We are ready. We have been training with a view to set our strategies and I am quite sure that we are going to get it right this time around,” Eguma told Goal

"We will get the three maximum points with goals. We know that our opponents are experienced on the continent and we are not taking them for granted. We also respect them but we are more concerned about us and we don’t have any other thing than to get the three points because it is the only thing that can help us to get out of the group to the next round.

Eguma notes uncertainty as regards the availability of Gabriel Olalekan, Emeka Ogbugh, Guy Kuemian for the tie. While Emeka Atuloma is out suspended after receiving another booking in the last encounter against KCCA.

“Emeka Atuloma is an important of the team and also an experienced player. He has contributed a lot to the success of the team and his absence will be felt but I feel we have alternatives that will take his place. We will try our best to see that we encourage whoever that will replace him to come up with his best performance.

“Gabriel Olalekan copped injury in our last game with Shooting Stars and he is battling and hoping to recover before the game. The Burkina Faso player is also recuperating from injury while Emeka Ogbugh and Guy Kuemian are also battling to regain match fitness. These are important members of the team who are major doubts for the game and it won’t be good for us to miss the services of these players but will ensure that we build a formidable team that can pass the test of Club Africain,” Eguma concluded.

All the four teams: FUS Rabat of Morocco, Club Africain (Tunisia), Rivers United and KCCA (Uganda) are all tied on six points with only goals difference separating them.
