Dove Wome wants to leave a mark at Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates attacker Dove Wome has admitted that the Nedbank Cup is their last chance of winning silverware, as they are already out of the running for the league title.

The 25-year-old has been in scintilating form since joining the Buccaneers on loan from SuperSport United at the start of the year, netting three goals in his last five appearances for the Soweto giants. 

He said winning the Nedbank Cup would not only bring joy to the supporters, but it would also offer them a good chance of going back to continental football. 

The Sea Robbers have not played continental football since their 2-1 aggregate loss to Etoile du Sahel in the 2015 Caf Confederation Cup final.   

“This Cup is the last chance for us to bring the glory back to the club,” Wome was quoted as saying by IOL.

“It’s not just an opportunity for us to bring joy to the fans, but also an opportunity to go back to playing in Africa. My wish is to play and do well in the continent, something that the club has a rich history of doing,” he said. 

Wome also took time to explain the reason behind his lack of game time at SuperSport United, but he's happy to have joined the 'biggest club in Africa'. 

“I didn’t play much (at SuperSport under Baxter) because I came from an injury and the team was doing well,” Wome explained.

“Obviously the coach couldn’t just change the team. For me now to be part of the biggest club in Africa, I am very happy. I want to leave a mark to make the supporters happy,” Wome concluded
