AFC Leopards coach Dennis Kitambi has admitted that his players were ‘nervous’ against Wazito on Wednesday.
Ingwe overcame a tensed moment to force a 3-2 victory at Kenyatta Stadium in a mid-week Kenya Premier League match.
But despite moving second on the log following the win, Kitambi was not impressed by his players’ over the display that also saw Ingwe miss two penalties.
“We were a bit nervous today. We need to work on our defence and game management,” said Kitambi in a post-match interview
The Tanzanian added: “We can’t allow silly mistakes to happen. It is unfortunate not to score two penalties. This is something we’ll need to go back and work on.”
Ezekiel Odera and Victor Majid both missed the opportunity to stretch Ingwe's lead after the duo were denied by keeper Philip Odhiambo from the penalty spot.
AFC Leopards have now moved second on the log with 13 points, just three adrift of the leaders Gor Mahia.
Kitambi is expected to return to Machakos as they take on Kakamega Homeboyz after Ingwe parted ways with coach Robert Matano.
