Ousmane Dembele’s attitude has been questioned by Nice midfielder Jean Seri after forcing through a €105 million move to Barcelona.
Dembele refused to train at Borussia Dortmund as he waited on a deal to be done.
He eventually got his wish, but suffered a hamstring injury just three games into his Camp Nou career and Seri – who was also linked with a big-money transfer to Barca over the summer – believes the 20-year-old is responsible for his own misfortune.
"For a young player like Dembele, that's not the attitude to adopt," the Ivorian midfielder told Le Parisien.
"When someone's not well informed, they take decisions that are not correct.
"Then, after arriving at Barca, he got injured. Without the pressure he suffered and the tension, maybe he would not have got injured.
"In contrast, Kylian Mbappe kept away from what was going on before signing for PSG."
Seri decided against emulating Dembele and pushing for a high-profile switch to Catalunya.
He admits that he is still disappointed to have missed out on a move, but will not dwell on the matter as his focus has shifted back to events in France with Nice.
"It was a difficult time,” added Seri.
“It will remain with me until the end of my career, but I have turned the page now.
"I prefer not to think about the past and focus on what I know best: playing football."
