While Dutch sides PSV and Feyenoord seem to be going neck for neck for the signature of Netherlands defender of Ghanaian descent Derrick Luckassen, English club Crystal Palace and French giants Lyon could be the latest to enter the race, Goal can reveal.
The 22-year-old has become a top transfer target this summer following his impressive showing for AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie and the Europa League last campaign.
The defender cum midfielder made 35 Eredivisie appearances, all starts, and netted three times as the Cheeseheads finished sixth.
He also made 12 outings, all starts, in the Europa League.
PSV and Feyenoord are expected to launch bids for the Amsterdam-born as they seek to bolster their squads ahead of their participation in the Europa League and the Champions League respectively this season.
Crystal Palace, who recently appointed Dutch coach Frank de Boer, and Lyon have made initial enquiries about the youngster from his agent Mino Raiola, according to Goal sources.
Luckassen, a Netherlands youth star, is one of foreign-born players of Ghanaian descent on the radar of Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah.
He has played for the Dutch at under-18, 19, 20 and 21 levels.
