Chippa United sign former Orlando Pirates defender Mvelase

Mvelase failed to command a regular place in the Pirates' starting line-up over the last two seasons, but he's back at Chippa for the next six months

Chippa United have announced the signing of former Orlando Pirates defender Mpho Mvelase on a six-month deal.

The 28-year-old had been training with the Chilli Boys under the watchful eye of Dan Malesela, and although he was expected to sign on the dotted line during the January transfer window, the club gave him more time to impress the technical team.

Mvelase returns to the club he left in January 2015. At the time, he was sold to the Buccaneers, who were convinced of his qualities and talents as a footballer.

He was never really given a chance to play regular football at Pirates, making two appearances in all competitions the whole of last season.

The Sea Robbers then decided to release him at the start of the campaign, and he was eventually handed his clearance.
