Chinese Women's FA Cup final rekindle Asisat Oshoala, Tabitha Chawinga rivalry

Jiangsu Suning's Tabitha Chawinga and Dalian Quanjian's Asisat Oshoala will rekindle their African rivalry as both lethal strikers go toe-to-toe in Chinese Women's FA Cup final on Saturday.

The African duo has dominated the headlines in China with their impressive goalscoring form for their respective clubs, especially in the Chinese Women Super League in the 2018 season.

Oshoala, who is in her second season in China, fired Dalian to a league diadem for the third straight season, finishing on top with 35 points - four above runners-up Chawinga’s Jiangsu.

The reigning Africa Women's Player of the Year, netted 10 times in 14 games - three less than she managed on her debut season - her team's top scorer and league's joint second topscorer.

However, the Nigerian quest to make a back-to-back golden boot scoop hit the rock as she was beaten in the race by the Malawian.

The 2017 Swedish Damallsvenskan topscorer with 25 goals and Forward of the Year, is an instant hit in China, scoring 17 goals to nick the golden award - seven goals ahead of Oshoala.

Chawinga on her debut season in the Asian nation had already fired Jiangsu to a Chinese Women's Championship title, scoring eight goals to clinch the topscorer gong earlier in August.

A week ago, Oshoala and Dalian suffered a 4-0 defeat at home in the first leg of the final against Chawinga's Jiangsu at the Dalian Sports Center Stadium in Dalian on October 24.

And the newly crowned Chinese league winners will be hoping to bounce back from their first-leg defeat to secure a double title in 2018 season at the Wutaishan Stadium, Nanjing.
