Cristiano Ronaldo Juventus 2018-19
Cristiano Ronaldo's first official match for Juve should see the Scudetto holders record a comfortable win at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi

Normally a trip to the city of Verona to face Chievo would not generate a huge amount of excitement around the world, but this year Juve's opening match of the Serie A season is different.

The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo means that there is even greater global interest in the Italian champions and they will look to send out a message in their first game against the side that finished 13th last term.

Chievo are not one of the few teams that have been able to cause Juve problems over the last few years, with the Verona outfit losing 11 and drawing one of their last 12 games against the Turin giants.

Latest odds

Seven of Chievo's ten league wins last season came at home, although they are winless against Juve in their last 16 meetings.

bet365 offer Lorenzo D'Anna's men at 12/1 (13.00) with Juventus priced at 2/9 (1.22) and the draw available at 19/4 (5.75).

Team news

Ronaldo is in line to make his official debut with the Bianconeri after playing and scoring in his first outing in a Juventus shirt during last week's friendly against the club's B team.

Fellow summer signing Emre Can could also make his debut while Leonardo Bonucci is likely to start the game having returned from a season at AC Milan.

Preview

Last season Juve won both matches against Chievo without conceding, with the Verona club having scored just one goal in their last five meetings.

The current champions will expect to have few problems against a side whose main ambition will once more be avoiding relegation.

In the 2017/18 campaign, Chievo failed to win any games against the top seven clubs, suffering heavy defeats at the hands of Roma, Inter, Lazio, Milan and Sampdoria.

There is little reason for us to think that Juve will struggle on Saturday and there are a few interesting options for punters looking to back an away win.

Tips and predictions

The price of 5/6 (1.83) for Juve to win and over 2.5 goals in the game looks appealing, as does the price of 6/5 (2.20) for Juve to score over 2.5 goals.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, is offered at 1/2 (1.50) to score and at 2/1 (3.00) to break the deadlock.
