Chelsea v Burnley Betting: Back Blues to bounce straight back from Community Shield debacle

Premier League champions Chelsea get the defence of their title underway at home against the side who finished 16th last season.

While the Blues ran out 3-0 winners against Burnley at Stamford Bridge last August, the campaign before saw the Clarets earn a 1-1 draw in west London. Last season also saw Burnley draw 1-1 with Chelsea at Turf Moor and Antonio Conte will be wary of the Lancashire outfit despite his Blues being clear favourites.

Genting offer a victory for the Blues at 1/4 (1.25) while Burnley can be backed at 11/1 (12.00) to record their first ever Premier League win over Chelsea, with the draw priced at 9/2 (5.50).

Conte's side won 17 of their 19 league games at Stamford Bridge on their way to the title last season, keeping eight clean sheets. That means the majority of their matches saw both teams score, and a repeat is offered at 5/4 (2.20).

In theory, that looks like a tempting price, yet in practice Burnley's away record last term inspires little confidence that they can even get on the scoresheet.

Sean Dyche's team won just once on the road, owing their Premier League survival to their home form. Indeed, Burnley scored just 13 times last season the worst record of any team that avoided relegation and with the sale of Andre Gay, the Clarets have lost 25% of their Premier League goals.

The price therefore of 3/4 (1.75) for Chelsea to win and keep a clean sheet is worthy of interest, and two of the three Premier League games between these sides at Stamford Bridge have finished 3-0 to the hosts.

The Blues also won to nil at home against three of the bottom five last season and they should again record a victory against one of the teams who look set to struggle once more.
