Chelsea loanee Mount sets five-year first with Vitesse hat-trick

On-loan Chelsea prospect Mason Mount further endeared himself to the Vitesse faithful on Wednesday by achieving a five-year club first with a fine triple.

Mount, 19, has made a big impact in the Eredivisie after joining Vitesse on a temporary deal back in 2017.

And a hat-trick to take down ADO Den Haag 5-2 took his league tally to 12 in 31 games, a brilliant return for a midfielder in his first full season at senior level.

The youngster, moreover, managed a feat that had not been previously matched for five years by a Vitesse player.

Mount was directly involved in four of his club's five goals on Wednesday, adding an assist to his tally.

The last time a Vitesse player reached that mark was way back in February 2013, when Wilfried Bony shone against Heracles.

Speaking to Goal earlier in the season, Mount admitted that he found life in the Netherlands hard going at first, and spent time warming the Vitesse bench.

But the teenager is now an undisputed first-teamer for the Dutch side, who clinched sixth place and the right to play off for a Europa League spot next season.

After that Mount-inspired semi-final victory put them in a commanding position ahead of the second leg, a place in Europe is now closer to reality for the Arnhem outfit.
