Champions League Betting: Spurs odds against to beat Dortmund after Kane injury

Tottenham have drifted out to odds against in their Champions League last 16 tie following the news that Harry Kane could miss both legs.

A two-legged affair against Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund was always going to be tricky and Spurs were initially installed as 19/20 (1.95) to qualify, with the German side slight favourites at 4/5 (1.80).

However, Kane has been confirmed by the London club to be out until early March with a ligament injury, causing bet365 to move Spurs out to an industry-best 11/10 (2.10) and edge Dortmund in to 4/6 (1.67). The London side are still 25/1 (26.0) in the outright market.

The injury means that the England captain will definitely sit out for the first leg against Dortmund on February 13 but could come back for the return in Germany on March 5.

Losing any starter for six weeks would be a massive blow but with Kane having scored 20 goals and six assists in 31 games this season, his injury could not come at a much worse time for Mauricio Pochettino.

Son Heung-min – Spurs’ second top scorer this season - could also miss up to five games whilst he represents South Korea in the Asian Cup, meaning both he and Kane will not play in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at Chelsea.

Tottenham hold a 1-0 advantage after the first leg at Wembley – thanks to a penalty from Kane – and have drifted slightly to 4/6 (from 8/13) to qualify ahead of the match at Stamford Bridge on January 24.

Pochettino’s men will certainly be hoping that Kane is able to make a quicker recovery than expected as, whilst they have a winnable run of Premier League fixtures to begin with, things then get tough very quickly.

An away match against Chelsea at the end of February is followed by the second North London derby of the season on March 2, before their trip to Dortmund awaits just three days later.
