Cedric Bakambu fires Beijing Guoan past Tianjin Quanjian

Cedric Bakambu put up an outstanding display as Beijing Guoan battled to a 3-2 victory over Tianjin Quanjian in Sunday’s Chinese Super League encounter at Workers' Stadium.

The 27-year-old attacker continued from where he stopped before the league went on World Cup break assisting Renato Augusto with the curtain raiser in the 39th minute.

The former Villarreal striker then scored a goal of his own in the 56th minute to take his tally to ten in as many games.

Dabao Yu also found the net for the Imperial Guards in the encounter after benefitting from Jonathan Viera’s assist.

Paulo Sousa’s men did not go down without a fight with Xu Yang reducing the deficit in the 76th minute and Alexandre Pato scored the second for the side but could not prevent Roger Schmidt’s men from claiming the maximum points in the tie.

Bakambu will be hoping to continue the fine form in front of goal when Beijing Guoan clash with Shanghai SIPG in Wednesday's FA Cup game.
